What do you say, folks? Do they work or no? Would you wear some to the office? Or are they too much for a corporate setting?

White soles are gonna get damaged or dirty almost immediately. I can't imagine I would ever invest in them unless I had an absolutely huge amount of money to waste on replacements.

They look good in the blue, but the brown/black comes off as both too classy to be sneakers and too informal to be dress shoes.

My mind is honestly struggling to categorize them.

Uh… why? The blue ones are alright maybe, but everything else looks a bit too tacky to me. It feels like it'd be better to just pick one or the other. Can't think of a situation where these shoes would be the perfect fit.
Keldroc
  • #5
They look awful, and look worse every time you wear them as they get dirtier. But if you like how they look, that's all that matters.

Those shoes scream Gary Vee/Hustle Culture/App Startup where 18-20 hour days are a minimum. Or you just have to have the fashion confidence and flair to pull it off.

Depends on how the person looks and how they dress. I don't think I could pull it off.

I like white shoes. Draw attention to all of you and feet are an underrated part of the ensemble.

That said: White will get dirty/damaged soooo damn fast,

I mean, if I was to look like a dickhead and get no where in my career, sure, they'd be perfect.

I get "Childhood friend's mean dad" vibes from these.

I guess it's more that guy in the first pic.

would get laughed out of the office and probably an instant no in an interview

but Gen Z picks out the ugliest fucking things and call it "fashion" so watch these goober looking monstrosities take off 🤮

I've been at a training this week with a large accounting firm. These are extremely popular. I think they look quite nice, but the examples OP gave are some of the uglier versions I have seen.

Edit: Also who is wearing business shoes without socks??

I think they looks fine and even better when slightly dirty.
  • #15
Better than the sneakers I see people wear usually. I lol never understand a suit with sneakers. Just looks bad
Perkin_Warbeck
  • #16
Nope. These would be fun for a night out, but they won't pass for dress shoes in the office.
Maximo
  • #17
That shit is going to get so dirty so quick.
wisdom0wl
  • #18
absolutely not. shit looks orthopedic

I'm not against the idea itself, but those colors really don't go well with it. At all.

At best, one of the shades of brown is kinda not bad. I think the designs could be much better. Dark shoes that clash with, rather than complement, the white...just doesn't work.

Besides being ugly, they also look like bowling shoes. But do it well, and I'd consider it.

I have a couple. They look good on me.

Only if you pair them well, I don't see why not. I like the more sporty casual vibe. Then again I absolutely hate the standard dresscode for men and will never wear anything more formal then a sweater and sneakers...

They look fine, great even, but have fun with dealing with white shit on the floor.

Don't waste your money, imo.

Think you could pull these off with about any pair of blue jeans. Just I think maybe not too blue. Contrast might be a bit much lol

I like those either way

I would CIA lace those up real quick

I don't mind it, but I hate all of those shoes.

I believe you'd get your ass kicked wearing those

I wouldn't even wear that for a wedding, let alone an office.

The middle one in the 4th pic of the OP looks ok. The rest meh.

For the office? Laughable. For Silicon Valley rise and grinders? Trying too hard to the point of forgetting practically and thus deemed head in the cloud by VCs. For fashion? Those gigantic soap chunks scream "covering a mistake/poor leatherwork" - I had thought you mean white soles, Louboutin style. Granted that's partially on the basis of the styles in the first place - the tread work makes them look *extra* ill conceived but still, no.

No no and no.

This one, however, would look fine for a summer party in the valley or the Hamptons. Once.

I feel that they are a childish version of what a good shoe should be, imo.

The blue ones look pretty good. The other colors don't seem like they'd work, but they look fine on the guy in the pic. I feel like they'd be fine for an office.

I don't think white soles are necessarily a faux pas but sneaker soles on leather dress shoes definitely are, in any colour. The examples in the OP are all getting a no from me.

I'd subscribe to your shoe review Patreon.

The real question is white trainers: white soles or gum soles?

I'd buy them. Beats nearly falling on my ass every time I wear my leather soled shoes after a light rain.

I'm pro, those OP's examples are ugly though, except the Steve Nash ones (forget what the brand is for those, but I looked at copping a while back but weren't easy to find in Canada). These Cole Hahn Zerogrand 2.0's are what I have, though I only use them for interviews:

I am here to publicly state that I hate white soles with a passion and I hate that my options for shoes get slashed to a tenth, if even, if I happen to not like them and it's upsetting.

Can you share some "better" ones? Curious to see the difference.

Your unbridled negativity about almost everything is absolutely refreshing and hilarious.

Are you Karl Pilkington?

You are correct about how easy it is to fuck up white soles though.

  • #49
Does anyone have examples of these making an outfit look better than dress shoes or sneakers? Seems like you would just want to pick one instead of this weird combo shoe, but maybe I just need to see an outfit where these look good.

I have a pair of Maddens pretty similar to these. The sole stays ok, but I don't do things I would do in sneakers with them on, like exercise. Still need to clean them on the regular.

I don't see the appeal of a $700+ sneaker (or sneakers for fashion in general). Just buy some nice shoes or boots, ffs. Don't like the leather soles? Upgrade to some Vibram mini-lugs.
